About SeatChecker

Car seat and booster laws are different in every state, and the official sources are scattered across statutes, highway patrol pages, and DMV handbooks. SeatChecker reads those official sources and turns them into one plain-language answer for your state, with the statute citation to back it up.

Every threshold on this site is verified against an official source: the state statute, the state's highway patrol or DOT page, or the bill text for upcoming changes. We keep the legal minimum and the American Academy of Pediatrics' safety recommendation as separate, clearly labeled facts, because they are not the same thing.

SeatChecker provides general information, not legal advice. Always confirm with your state's current statute before relying on it.
